Dental Plaque is a very soft sticky film (plaque) of food and bacteria that sticks to teeth to cause tooth decay, gum disease and tartar (calculus or scale) on your lower front teeth. It can be stained RED with a common food dye and the plaque revealing dye can be bought as liquid or tablets at most chemists. We advise you do a plaque disclosing once each week and brush WITHOUT toothpaste until your teeth look clean. Remove Dental Plaque DAILY with a toothbrush, floss AND toothpicks. Dental Mouthwashes are notoriously INEFFECTIVE at removing Dental Plaque, despite what the TV advertisements say.
